Statler and Waldorf sing this famous line in The Muppet Show Theme Song during Season 5, and it's a valid question. Why do they keep buying tickets and box seats if they hate the show so much? I think that these old men love each other as much as they hate the Muppets. Their comedic takedowns of Fozzie Bear fortify a friendship that has been building for decades. What else would they do during the day if they didn't have Muppets to criticize? They're scathing but not mean enough to go up to some Big Bird on the street and hurl insults at them. Statler and Waldorf only insult the people who deserve it, and the Muppets gang fits the bill. If you wish you could watch The Muppets live onstage, these Muppets memes will suffice for now.
